Some time ago, I wrote a bit of tour literature for Manhattan's best beach, a 'rubbish-strewn, sitting-room-sized spit of sand . . . just south of the tow pound at Pier 76.' [*] It's changed. A different class of garbage altogether is hanging out there. I'm not sure I like it. Also, it's really not as interesting at night. It starts to seem more like it really is: sleazy.
